Constitutional Convention: Introduction  The Constitutional Convention of February 1998

CANDIDATE STATEMENTS for VICTORIA

Groups

SHOOTERS PARTY
BULLMORE, Eric G (209)
SAYERS, Neville (225)
EAMES, Graham (121)
HUTCHISON, Alan (102)
The Shooters' Party stands for traditional Australian values and freedoms while holding no entrenched position regarding the republic issue. Any constitutional change must protect and enhance the rights and privileges of all Australian citizens and ensure that governments and bureaucracies are fully accountable servants of the people.
We support an independent judiciary but all laws, or the adoption of external treaties, should be fully debated and ratified by parliament. We believe that, should a referendum decide on an Australian Head of State, that person must be elected directly by the people and not by politicians.
Above all, the freedom and prosperity for which Australians have lived, worked, fought and died must not be compromised during a time of constitutional change. This important issue cannot be entrusted to politicians.
Our team comprises practical clear thinking Australians who, as family people, are concerned for the future of our country.

AUSTRALIAN REFORM PARTY
DRANE, Ted (248)
MATHIESON, Raymond McLean (247)
WALLACE, William (145)
THORPE, Alfred James (169)
"A constitution is not the act of a government, but of a people constituting a government; and government without a Constitution is power without a right.
All power exercised over a nation must have some beginning. It must either be delegated or assumed. There are no other sources. All delegated power is trust, all assumed power is usurpation. Time does not alter the nature and quality of either."
These are the words of Thomas Paine an American patriot, who wrote them in 1792, they are as valid now as when first written. The Australian Constitution belongs to the people, not to politicians. Any alterations should only be made after an exhaustive analysis of their long and short term effect.
Our task if elected to this Constitutional Convention will be to ensure that the Commonwealth Government does not gain more power for itself, at the expense of our rights and liberties.

NO REPUBLIC - ACM
CHIPP, Don (143)
PANOPOULOS, Sophie (112)
RAMSAY, Jim (216)
HOWARD, Colin (138)
ROSS-EDWARDS, Peter (211)
HOGAN, Brett (148)
LEE, Wellington (188)
VENABLES, Sally Ann (187)
KNOX, Bruce (204)
MCQUEEN, Judy (106)
PARNABY, Florence (194)
WELCH, Richard (234)
LESLIE, Norma (193)
FITZGERALD, Paul (252)
KNOX, Victoria (131)
GRONOW, Michael (239)
Our team, headed by Hon. Don Chipp AO, founder of the Australian Democrats, includes men and women from diverse cultural backgrounds, different generations and urban and rural Victoria.
You may not recognise all our names, but you can be sure we are proud of our country, and united in defending the system of government we know. Under our Constitution Australia has become a peace loving, democratic, fully independent and stable nation.
With your help we will go to this Convention determined to see that any changes proposed are tested by a simple question:- Will this change give Australia a better system of democratic government?
All recent notions promoted widely by republicans have fallen short. Many have alarmed thoughtful people.
Any change in our Constitution should be made only after careful, dispassionate and rational debate. It should not be decided in response to theatrical demands from trendy advocates who are long on empty bombast but distinctly short on facts. They seem also to be ashamed of our achievements and antecedents and anything that symbolises them.
Who are in our team? With Don Chipp, we have Sophie Panopoulos, a young articulate lawyer, and the distinguished barrister Dr Colin Howard QC, a senior member of the Victorian Bar. He well understands the potential pitfalls in constitutional change. Another thoughtful legal voice is Michael Gronow, one of Melbourne's youngest barristers.
Hon. Jim Ramsay brings experience in business management, parliamentary and ministerial service to the debate, as well as a high regard for the integrity of our constitution.
Cr Wellington Lee, OBE OAM, a leading figure in Victoria's Chinese community, Melbourne pharmacist and City Councillor will have an important contribution to make.
Peter Ross-Edwards, AM, Parliamentary Leader of the National Party for many years and active figure in community affairs, and Judy McQueen, who with her husband has been farming in the Murray Valley for 31 years, ensure a country perspective is well represented.
Paul Fitzgerald, renowned portrait artist and thoughtful voice from the arts world, and Bruce Knox, a well-informed Lecturer in History from Monash will help the Convention find the depth of understanding needed to safeguard our future.
Florence Parnaby B.E.M. is the nominee of the Council of British and Commonwealth Societies. Both she and Norma Leslie, a homemaker and company director have fine records of extensive community service. Their combined wisdom has much to contribute.
Finally, Sally Ann Venables M.Ed, secondary school teacher/librarian; Brett Hogan, State President Young Liberals; Richard Welch, a 28 year old projects manager in the financial management industry, and Victoria Knox, University student, join with Sophie Panopoulos and Michael Gronow to bring the voice of youth to our cause.
We ask for your support.

PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH OF VICTORIA
The answer is security. We all want a secure future where the freedom and prosperity we now enjoy will be enhanced rather than diminished. It is our endeavor, together with all Australians, to preserve the Christian foundation of our democratic process for the benefit of our children.
HARMAN, Allan (129)
After 35 years listening to people from all walks of life, Rev. Professor Harman is a trusted and compassionate thinker on issues relating to Australians.
BELL, Keith (130)
Victorian Church leader, Rev. Keith Bell, is constantly rubbing shoulders with men, women, and children whose Christian, family and community values he supports and defends.

AUSTRALIAN MONARCHIST LEAGUE
Our Constitution has for 100 years produced stable constitutional government and protection of our democracy and freedoms that cannot be guaranteed in a republic.
You can continue that protection for yourself and your children by rejecting the uncertainties of republics and voting for the Australian Monarchist League Gifford team.
GIFFORD, Kenneth (166)
Queen's Counsel (Victoria/Queensland/Tasmania). Author. Lecturer of international repute. Freeman: City of London. From a lifetime's experience I caution "the republican proposals will create constitutional problems".
RASKOVY, Steve (107)
Former Australian Olympian who fled from a Republic. Now a proud Australian who values the security and true freedom of Australia's democratic and constitutional Monarchy.
WEBSTER, Paul (111)
A solicitor. Vice President Australia Day Council, President Caroline Chisholm Society. Vehemently determined to preserve the proven freedoms and strengths of our present Australian Constitution.
BOFFA, Gilbert (182)
Company Director. President local Australia Day Association. "Our Constitution has an enviable record of free speech and democrat government protecting the interests of all Australians".
CARROLL, John (101)
A 25 year old Anglican Church youth worker urging Australians to "reject the uncertainties of Republics" and vote for the "Australian Monarchist League Gifford" team.

REAL REPUBLIC
The constitution belongs to all Australians - and everyone should participate in changing it.
We have a once-a-lifetime chance to build a new constitution for a fair, modern, democratic Australian republic. Let's not waste it on one issue.
For ordinary Australians, it's more important that our constitution guarantees living and working conditions, social justice, Indigenous rights, our environment, multiculturalism, public health and education, local government - and strong democracy.
COSTELLO, Tim (178)
A real republic recognises that power resides with the people. More Australians should be involved and their hopes and fears addressed for a true democracy.
RAYNER, Moira (212)
Our Constitution is silent about rights and fundamental values. It doesn't reflect where real power lies. Democratic conventions are disappearing. Our nation must be just.
SINGER, Jill L (244)
Most Australians want a Republic out of national pride. Victorians in particular need broader constitutional reform to protect their individual human rights. Let's do it.
WOODS, Davina (177)
Let's all join in developing a new Republican constitution that affirms and enshrines Indigenous rights to land and cultural identity, and shares Australia's wealth fairly.
SALEHI, Nouria (149)
Fighting landmines, supporting new Australian settlers, struggling for world peace, working as a doctor in nuclear medicine, I want a Constitution that celebrates Australia's diversity.
CHALLEN, Michael B (202)
Australians need to enshrine in the Commonwealth Constitution their unswerving commitment to being a just society which gives an assured place to disadvantaged people.
KLEPNER, Judith (238)
An Australian Bill of Rights, providing social justice, protection from discrimination, Indigenous land rights, workers' rights to organise independent free trade unions and collective bargaining.
WALLACE, Jude (171)
Australians need a real constitution with a Bill of Rights stating the rights and obligations of government to citizens and of citizens to each other.
DOWNEY, Jim (213)
The word "environment" is not mentioned in our constitution. The effect has been dramatic degradation. Our precious environment needs a more relevant and contemporary constitution.
QUANTOCK, Rod (235)
A national willingness to re-examine and redraft a constitution is an opportunity not to be missed, however hard this government tries.
COOPER, Len (158)
Workers need social and constitutional change - to guarantee rights to strike and organise, protect jobs and working conditions, and ensure civilised living standards.
SPINDLER, Sid (233)
Using my work on Bills of Rights, Child Labour, Native Title and other human rights, I want to help build a constitution for tomorrow.
LEVI, John (151)
A real Australian Republic must be based on citizens' rights and responsibilities. Parliamentary democracy must protect an independent judiciary, social justice, education and equity.
HILL, Mike (256)
Accountable, democratic and consultative local government is under threat as State Governments seize greater control over local resources, assets and programs. Constitutional enshrinement is vital.
SCOTT, David (136)
The Constitution should specify and protect important rights and duties, especially human rights and the special status of Indigenous people.
SALVARIS, Mike (214)
All Australians should help build a new Republican constitution based on real democracy, human rights and social justice.

NEW CONSTITUTION FOR A NEW MILLENIUM
TOSCANO, Joseph (142)
REGHENZANI, Stephen (250)
The question delegates should be debating at the Constitutional Convention is not whether Australia should be a Monarchy or a Republic, but whether Australians need a new Constitution.
As your delegates we will promote the idea at the Convention that Australia needs more than cosmetic changes to its head of State. We believe this country needs a new Constitution.
Think about it:
If you want delegates at the Constitutional Convention who believe the Australian people should determine whether they want a new constitution, vote for The New Constitution for a New Millennium team.
Thank you,
Dr. Joseph Toscano MDBS

PRESIDENTIAL DEMOCRACY (PEOPLE'S DIRECT ELECTION) GROUP
EGAN, Thomas (135)
SHEN, Gensheng (147)
Australia's westminster style government protects democratic rights and freedoms by providing essential checks and balances. Fundamental change to our government by displacing the Crown and removing the Queen as head of State is not desirable unless the electorate is empowered to directly elect a President. Presidential Democracy upholds the principle of the people's right to exercise a direct effect on the institutions of government. Presidential Democracy demands that only a President elected directly by the people of Australia be delivered the power and duty to safeguard Australia and our Constitution, including prerogative and reserve powers according to law and convention.

ALTERNATIVE THREE
COHRS SCHULZ, Bette (122)
HOWARD, Reg (108)
De FREDRICK, Lorraine (141)
RIBARICH, Nicholas Martin (240)
HARRISON, Doug (152)
PHILLIPS, Oswald George (173)
WEATHERHEAD, John L (246)
MAHONEY, Lyn (137)
Changing the head of State will not address the critical issues; changes to the rules (Constitution) that control politicians are essential.
The Constitution shall belong to the people, and be retained as amended by the people, placing Politicians, Government and Courts effectively under people's control.
A body of elected Australian citizens be established to enforce the rules that limit politicians (government) as entrenched in the Constitution.
The people only, (not Politicians) shall have constitutional right to put forward amendments to the Constitution.
The amended Constitution shall include all the fundamental principles of common law that the people trust to maintain their freedom.
Following the amendments, the re-drafted Constitution shall go to referendum.
The above principles are essential to restore integrity to government, hope and prosperity to Australians.
Australia must re-establish Australian owned manufacturing, farming and mining industries and limit politicians ability to sell-out or destroy them, this will ensure jobs and prosperity of Australia and its people. This can only be guaranteed if the people have effective control of government.
The Constitution, the only means available to people, to control politicians and government, to be effective there must be an elected body responsible directly to the people charged with enforcing the rules laid down in the Constitution.
Have your say, help empower the people, vote one [1] for the Alternative Three team. For information contact Alternative Three, Box 270 St Marys, 2670 02-9623-6177 02-9826-1670.

A VOICE FOR REGIONAL VICTORIA
AITKEN, Anthony (197)
CRUTCHFIELD, Michael (254)
We are young Councillors elected in the City of Greater Geelong and believe that Regional Victoria needs to have a strong voice at the Constitutional Convention.
The interests and concerns of rural Victoria are different to that of the city and metropolitan area. We live and work in a major regional centre and we understand the challenges that are confronting our regions.
We stand for:

We can be the voice for regional Victoria.
Have your say on our country's future.
Vote Aitken, Crutchfield.

AUSTRALIAN GREENS - FOR A REPUBLIC
CLARKE, Charmaine (219)
SINGER, Peter (186)
RISSTROM, David (114)
SEKHON, Gurm (146)
PENNICUIK, Susan (140)
The Greens believe in a republic made for a strong, healthy nation. An Australia with a future: culturally richer, more united.
We represent issues other parties too often overlook:
Reconciliation At Last.
Through a constitution that explicitly addresses the reconciliation of indigenous and non-indigenous Australians.
A Real Voice For All
Through a constitution that guarantees the rights of all Australians, that encourages the greatest diversity in a parliament elected by proportional representation, and that protects local government.
A Healthy Environment
Through a Federal Government constitutionally obliged to take responsibility for our environment - the lifeblood for all generations.
Media Freedom
A truly free media, which ensures public opinion cannot be controlled by a powerful few.
Our Candidates
Our richly diverse ticket is headed by Charmaine Clarke, a young Gunditjmara woman working on indigenous and environmental issues. She is backed by a university professor & author, a barrister, a student and a union official.
The 1901 constitution served well in its day. A new Bill of Rights will take Australia forward.

SAFEGUARD THE PEOPLE
Many Australians of all ages, including service men and women, are concerned that removing the Crown from the Constitution will remove safeguards for present and future Australians.
You cannot simply strike out "Queen" and insert "President".
We have a system which has worked because Governor-Generals have been Australia's Head of State with the sanction of the Crown behind them. They are vice-regal people and have almost invariably behaved accordingly when in office.
So beware of changing something which has worked, without knowing and understanding what is going in its place.
We stand for a nation united in the interests of everyone - including aboriginal Australians; when ever they came and where ever they came from.
If proposals come forward they must be put fairly and squarely before the people to ensure that there are safeguards against any all-powerful government.
RUXTON, Bruce (176)
President, RSL Victoria.
Community leader who speaks up.
WILCOX, Vernon (241)

THE WOMEN'S TICKET - AN EQUAL SAY
Give women an equal say in a Convention already dominated by male appointees. To ensure a full and vigorous debate, women must be equal participants in this convention. Women were denied the opportunity to participate in the original Conventions. The resulting political structures have excluded women and others in the community.
Our candidates are committed to a republic that is shaped by equal numbers of men and women and to a political structure that is genuinely representative and inclusive of women's experiences and diverse backgrounds.

ELECT THE PRESIDENT
BREWSTER, Fay R M (127)
PALMER, Leslie Wright (210)
PALMER, George E W (222)
BREWSTER, David M (226)
PALMER, Hazel (167)
BREWSTER-DEVLIN, Coree F (195)
BREWSTER, Blair Matthew (196)
DEVLIN, Rohan Malcolm (139)
BREWSTER, Sonja Jennifer (207)
DEMETRIS, Alec (170)
DEMETRIS, Brenda Enid (174)
PALMER, Helen M (159)
Each Australian must have the right to vote for the President of Australia, or Head of State. A vote for "Elect The President" is a vote for yourself having the right to vote for the President instead of letting members of Parliament have the exclusive role of deciding who will be President. The head of Australia has previously been decided by politicians, who appoint mates, or judges. Australia is more than politicians and High Court Judges. Australia is a diverse society. All Australians regardless of their sex, race, or religion, or who they know must have the opportunity and right to stand and vote for the President of Australia.
Recent events demonstrate the monarchy is out of touch, with community values and respect for individuals. By electing the President we can demand that the President stay in touch with people, and community standards. We can also ensure that our children are encouraged to respect people based on the content of their character, and their ability to serve Australia rather than who their parents are.
The protection of democracy and the Australian way of life require the people of Australia to have the right to vote for the President. If the President is to serve the people of Australia, the President must be accountable to the people of Australia at regular elections. The right of the people of Australia to elect the President must be protected in the Constitution. The President must be accountable to the people not to politicians (in Canberra), who are remote from people's needs.
Only a small number of Australians have the money, and time to join political groups to influence the actions of the Australian Government. The President of Australia will be elected to protect and represent all those who can't afford the money and time to join political groups. The President of Australia will be the last sentry at the gate of freedom protecting you and your families' rights. Make sure you have the right to vote for who the President will be by voting for Fay R Brewster (Elect The President).

D.L.P. - DEMOCRATIC LABOR PARTY
MULHOLLAND, John (192)
CREA, Pat (218)
The DLP is in this election to impress on voters the urgent need to protect the Australian Constitution and to highlight the risks of a republican campaign that could undermine and destroy it.
Our Constitution brought Australia to nationhood without the bloodshed and civil turmoil other nations have endured.
It has given us our federal system of government with the safeguards, checks and balances that have contained tyranny and extreme abuses of power.
Five generations of Australians have maintained and protected our Constitution, vigilantly rejecting, in referendums, politically contrived proposals for its alteration.
Protect the Constitution - Vote 1 DLP

CLAYTON, David (105)
INDEPENDENT FOR A BILL OF RIGHTS
I'm not a member of any political party, but I believe that Australia deserves a Constitution that establishes the ideals that we wish to be governed by, including a specific Bill of Rights. If the Convention is left to the Republican/Monarchist factions this may not even be considered.

KALINIY, Joseph (217)
DEMOCRATIC UNITED AUSTRALIAN PEOPLE FOR MONARCHY
Family and I enjoying happy life in Broadmeadows. Have been involved with lot communities and have reached more respectable relationship.

FRASER, Hugh Wetherall (162)
LL.B (Melb.), LL.M (Monash); Barrister. This Convention is an opportunity for Australians to express the Australian triumph of nearly 150 years of continuous democratic responsible government and realize a distinctively Australian head of state which is not grafted to the sovereignty of another nation. GOURLEY, Colin (185)

MAGEE, Kathy (206)
AUSTRALIANS FOR CONSTITUTIONAL DEBATE AND REFORM
True reform keeps what is good and modifies what is not.
Constructive debate about constitutional reform acknowledges need for responsive change while maintaining our fundamental commitment to democracy, respecting our heritage, upholding established values and cherishing allegiances.
This framework needs to guide Australia's coming of age as an independent nation.

NOSKE, Mike (163)
A COUNTRY VICTORIAN AND AUSTRALIAN
I'm forty-three, married, with three young children.
I've worked for others, employed people, been Mayor of Portland.
For our future, I believe Australia needs an Australian Head of State and a workable constitution for one nation rather than a federation of States.
Elect me and I'll help make that happen.

SAVAGE, Richard (224)
REPUBLIC OF AUSTRALIA HOTEL GROUP

CAILLARD, Peter (115)
LAWYERS FOR CONSTITUTIONAL INTEGRITY
Republicans or Monarchists - they must be kept honest. This is an opportunity to strengthen our constitution and resolve complex governance issues. CROMARTY, John M (230)
PROMOTING AND CONSERVING A CHRISTIAN DEMOCRACY
Presbyterian Minister, Geelong. Former School Deputy Principal. Co-founder, Concerned Parents Association.
My purpose is to promote the biblical basis of government and safeguard those Christian foundations underlying a parliamentary democracy.
Any form of government and justice that is alien to fundamental Christian principles poses a threat to our present freedoms.

STANDISH, Russell (191)
OUR CONSTITUTION IS SERVING US WELL
Our constitution, which is serving us well, will be jeopardised. Today's atmosphere of political dishonesty and social breakdown warns that presently any constitutional alteration is unsafe. I, a consultant physician, historian, author, clergyman, international lecturer, student of the constitution, offer an informed voice representing citizen freedom.
Keep our constitution safe!

MCCULLOUGH, Mal (133)

Make 'your' convention a true 'peoples' convention. Support reasoned honest debate and referendum. Protect Constitutional Democracy.

COATES, Geoffrey (232)
BILL OF RIGHTS FOR AUSTRALIA
The most important features of any constitution are the peoples' rights protected by it, yet our Australian Constitution contains no such safeguards. This Convention is your opportunity to guarantee the rights all Australians take for granted and to ensure fundamental freedoms are preserved for future generations.

COMMONSENSE & FAIRNESS
44, Farmer, B.Sc., Shire Councillor, married, 2 daughters.

COADY, Bill (249)
INDEPENDENT
Australia's constitution was formed from a federation of British colonies. We deserve a major review of that constitution and the immediate and future suitability of our political structure, given the major changes to our society since 1901. I would be proud to participate in that process.

McGARVIN, Jim (128)

WESTON, Megan (103)
As the immediate past Mayor of Greater Bendigo City Council, I believe it is vital regional Victoria's views on the future of our nation are heard.
Regional Victorians played an important role in shaping the present Constitution.
The interest in the country is just as strong today.

SEARLE, Peter Kent (153)

An Australian Head of State is essential.
Our stable system of government and independence of judiciary must be maintained.
States' powers reviewed.

Constitutional rights are not the source but the consequence of individual human rights.
Experienced barrister in constitutional and commercial law, able to mediate middle-ground.

BUCKLEY, Ben (205)
HOME RULE FOR AUSSIES
Appointing Delegates to this Convention mocks democracy. Government wants these talks to be a sham.
I will press for broad Constitutional reform, an Australian Head of State, elected by popular vote with fixed term elections.
If England expels the Monarch, i.e. 1648 we must be able to care for ourselves.

COCKS, Russell (198)

MORE BEER!
More Beer! aims to:

Our policies:

Less politics, more fun - More Beer!

TENNI, Philomene (227)
I recognise that the Alfredian direction to make legal decisions in the light of the Ten Commandments and the Bible led to the development of common law rights.
I oppose a United States type presidential veto power which can nullify up to two-thirds of the vote of both houses.

LIAO, Bill (109)
DINKUM
Constitutions don't keep up with the times they outlast them.
The rebirth of our nation must not be hijacked by the axe-grinders of the day.
Having a powerless, alien monarch as our Australian head of state is ludicrous.
Vote Bill Liao for levelheaded reform.

Australia's interests first... pushing no barrows.

ARMSTRONG, Anona (150)
FOR AUSTRALIAN LEADERSHIP AND CONSTITUTIONAL STABILITY
Australia is an independent and democratic nation. While we have been well served by our Constitution, I believe that we should consider adopting an Australian as our Head of State. If elected I will argue for this change as part of a process of reform that promotes stability and prosperity.

RAINSFORD, Katrina (243)
GOVCARE: QUALITY ASSURANCE IN GOVERNMENT
I am committed to introducing concepts of Quality Assurance into our government systems: starting with our Constitution which is our Code of Practice for delivering democracy.
Providing governance to the customers specifications: achieved by surveying voters needs, removing political gamesmanship and introducing Best Government Practice.

GOODFELLOW, John (155)
OPEN MINDED
We live in a great country.
It is time for calm, reasoned debate on our future.
The convention should help us move forward with confidence.
It is important you choose some people who remain open-minded and are not committed beforehand to the monarchy or republic line.
I welcome your vote.

REPUBLIC 2001

MACDONALD, Judy (157)
BENDIGO REPUBLICANS
Let's move to a Republic. This will give all Australians, especially the young, a true identity and a magnificent vision. Let's participate to the fullest degree in our democracy. Let's achieve a complete identity for ourselves and our nation. Let's come together, build on our achievements, grasp the future.

EDMISTON, George McNair (201)
MAKE IT SAY WHAT IT MEANS
The Constitution should say what it means.
Legal fact should replace such legal fictions as the royal and vice-regal expressed or implied autocratic powers.
Since the age of fifteen when I first discovered and read the Constitution I have been drawn to the study of political science and constitutional law.

LEGGE, William (172)
SUPPORT A NEW CONSTITUTION
A modern democratic constitution could:
- protect our lands, waters, and skies
- secure our basic human dignity
- express our identity and vision
- reconcile the bitterness of our history
- foster good government.
Our constitution does none of these things.
Express your readiness for a new constitution.

CLEARY, Phil (179)
PHIL CLEARY - INDEPENDENT AUSTRALIA
We need an independent Australia and a Constitution which protects our developing way of life.
A Constitution which protects our economy and the cultural independence and diversity of our people.
We need a fair, just and proud Australia, an independent Australia with an Australian Head of State.

CLEMENTS, Joseph (231)
JOSEPH CLEMENTS - INDEPENDENT REPUBLICAN
You don't have to belong to a party to be a Republican!
The Republic is the greatest symbol of our independence, and most importantly, our egalitarian spirit.
We must ensure we don't replace Monarchy of Privilege with A Republic of Elitist Exclusion.
Help me to give us all a say!

GERARDI, Gregory (168)
RETAIN CONSTITUTIONAL MONARCHY - IMPORTANT REASONS WHY
Our constitutional monarchy:

  1. Secures our rights and privileges, safeguarding against self-promoting interests.
Being hereditary, it provides a non-political guarantee of stability, which should not be blindly discarded.
  2. Has an invaluable heritage identified in the Bible, dating back to King David of the Old Testament, (Psalm 89:3-4), the world's most ancient throne.

MURGATROYD, Cecil G (100)
QUEEN ANNE OF AUSTRALIA
Queen Elizabeth could make her daughter, Princess Anne, the Queen of Australia. With Anne naturalised as a business migrant, we'd have an Australian Head of State with minimal constitutional change.
This Australian dynasty could make money selling genuine Royal Titles to gullible millionaires and solve all our economic problems.
